Who we are
A Bit of Good is one simple idea. We’re a not-for-profit that brings a bit of good into the lives of those who need it, when they need it, no questions asked and with no expectations.
Small donations from our supporters become a source of instant financial support for those who simply just need a small hand to get up and keep going at a certain point in their lives.
Our Misson
This idea for this project came out of Rutger Bregman’s Book, “Utopia for Realists” in which he asserts that we can construct a society with visionary ideas that are, in fact, wholly implementable. Every milestone of civilisation – from the end of slavery to the beginning of democracy – was once considered an utopian fantasy. Studies and after studies have shown that with a little assistance, we can break the cycle for the most vulnerable thereby enabling them to be a part of the society of which we all want to be part.
What we do
The aim of A Bit of Good Inc. is to provide small amounts of money – a max of $500 per person – to assist with small items, such as:
- A push bike to assist a young man who currently walks 2-hours each way to do 5-hours work a day, or
- A contribution towards fixing the teeth of a child whose parent is on welfare, or
- A birthday present for a child whose parents can’t afford a gift or
- To buy parts to fix a car to do shopping and part time work, or
- New clothes for an interview, or
- Some cash for basic groceries
- … and the list goes on…
These are not big items, but the difference these small items will make in someone’s life is enormous. Just knowing that someone cares means so much. A bit of love and compassion is a big deal for this group of disadvantaged people.
100% of all money received will go directly to the person. No wages, admin costs, or fees will come out of the donated money. Management and the distribution of funds will be completed by the elected board members, free of charge. No funds will go to support any AOD habits (Alcohol and Other Drugs).

What can you do to help us
We are not looking for big donations. We are hoping that our family and friends may be able to forego a can of Coke or a Mars bar, or a bottle of wine or alcohol once a week. We just need each of us to contribute as little as $2, $5, $10 or whatever you can spare each week. But we totally understand if this is not possible for whatever reason as for some people even $2 can be hard to find some weeks. We get it!!
Every quarter we will update you on where the money has gone with a brief story so you know what a difference it has made.
